Free Educators’ Evening of Science

Evening of Science Floor View
Enjoy a night designed especially for teachers!

Plan to attend our next event on September 22, 2010 from 4:00-7:00PM to enjoy an evening of relaxation, science, and special treatment.

Join us for drinks & hors d’oeuvres, exclusive education program previews, and explore hands-on exhibits throughout the center. Be sure to visit our science partners and sign up to win valuable prizes!

Registration will begin mid-August.




Teacher Education Network

Teacher Education NetworkThe goal of Teacher Education Network (TEN) is to create a network of and for Southern California educators. TEN members can receive points, programs, and prizes for their participation.

Prizes include free Discovery Science Center field trips and outreach programs, gift certificates, merchandise, and more! Prizes will be awarded at the end of each school year based on accumulated membership points!

Free Educators' Workshops

Teacher EducationEvery first Monday of the month (October to May), Discovery Science Center hosts a free Educators’ Open House from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. This educational event includes a hands-on science workshop on standard-based concepts, and exploratory visits to the Center’s exhibits related to those topics. Each workshop will address a variety of concepts and their applications across all grade levels with added emphasis on avoiding misconceptions. Call 714.263.3837 for more information or to register.

TEAMS

TEAMS (Teacher Education Advancement in Math and Science) is a standards-based, sponsored, professional development program for K – 3rd grade teachers. Each program uses a storybook as a focus to introduce and develop science, math, and language art concepts. Teachers will receive $60 worth of classroom materials, along with lesson plans and a hands-on workshop from 4:00pm – 6:00pm. A light dinner is provided Call 714-263-3837 to reserve a spot. Space in this FREE program is limited, so please only enroll if you plan to attend.
