Field Trips

Explore hands-on science exhibits while completing an Activity Booklet to share back at school. Investigate the differences in shapes of teeth in Dino Quest. Discover changes in properties as you interact with our Cloud Rings, Geyser and Tornado. Then enjoy a new educational demonstration, "Healthy Teeth.” Standards: [PS-1a, b; LS-2a, b, d – pg3; ES-3a – pg 4]


December is 1st Grade Month! Study Animal Design & Compare Teeth

Students explore DinoQuest like never before. They will compare the teeth of different modern-day and extinct animals to discover how teeth can provide clues as to what the animals eat. Students will make a tooth "fossil." Standards: [LS 2 a – pg 3]

Science in Your Classroom

Science programs are held at your school and taught by Discovery Science Center staff. They are 50 minutes in length and align with California Science Content Standards.

Owls Are a Hoot!

Students will explore the nocturnal owl, including a close-up look at their feathers and feet. Other activities include taking apart owl pellets and identifying bones to learn what owls eat. Standards: [LS-2a, b, c, d – pg.3]

Planetarium Starlab

Starlab, our portable planetarium, is designed to surround your students with the universe. Science, literature, and history are integrated into this daytime study of nighttime stars. Starlab can be set up in any 18’ X 25’ room with a 12-foot ceiling.

Assemblies at Your School

Assemblies are 50 minutes in length and can be adapted to any age audience. We have identified the California Science Content Standards for specific age groups.

What a Hoot! 

Get ready to explore the science of sound as we investigate high and low sounds, loud and soft sounds, and how sound is made. Stay tuned to discover a variety of handmade instruments, including a “hoot” tube and a “voice visualizer.”

Bubbles!

Get ready to be amazed at the science behind bubbles. Join our bubbleologist as we explore what makes bubbles work. Investigate the properties of bubbles, from their colors and shapes to what keeps them from popping… or what makes them pop! Bubbles are more than what meets the eye. Standards; [PS 1 a,b ]


Reaction Lab

Uncover the mysteries of chemical reactions as students participate in some amazing demonstrations that are sure to kep them on the edge of their seats. Color-changing chemicals, extreme temperatures and glowing concoctions are a few of the many chemical reactions we will explore. Standards: [PS 1b - pg 3]
