Field Trips

Investigate some of the physical principles that underlie biological structures and functions. This field trip demonstration and exhibit interaction focus on reflections, white light, sound manipulation, and the anatomy of a wavelength. Step into a Giant Kaleidoscope, modify a Strobe String wavelength, and much more. Then participate in a new educational demonstration entitled “The Eye and Camera.” Standards: [PS-5 g and 6 a-g – pg 24-25]

Science in Your Classroom

Science to Go programs are held at your school and taught by Discovery Science Center staff. They are 50 minutes in length and align with California Science Content Standards.

Planetarium Starlab & the Solar System

Starlab, our portable planetarium, is designed to surround your students with the universe. Science, literature, and history are integrated into this daytime study of nighttime stars. Starlab can be set up in any 18’ X 25’ room with a 12-foot ceiling. [ES 4b - pg 19]

Cow Eye Dissection

Perform an eye dissection guided by trained Science Center staff. Students will compare the cow eye to the human eye while examining the parts of the eye and their functions. (Includes one eye per two students)

Pig Heart Dissection

Conduct a heart dissection guided by trained Science Center staff. Students will compare the pig heart to the human heart while mapping the chambers of the heart and tracing the blood’s pathway through the circulatory system.

Future Scientists & Engineers of America

Through FSEA, your students can build teamwork, intelligence, character, and a really sweet future. Grade-specific, kit-based science programs for use in summer camps, after school, and in-school programs; Future Scientists and Engineers of America includes curriculum, training DVDs, membership benefits, and much more! Assemblies at Your School

Assemblies are 50 minutes in length and can be adapted to any age audience. We have identified the California Science Content Standards for specific age groups.

Super Cool

By far the “coolest” program we offer is this demonstration focusing on the three states of matter: gas, liquid, and solid. A series of experiments will feature liquid nitrogen, with a boiling point of -319 degrees Fahrenheit (-196o C)!

Reaction Lab

Uncover the mysteries of chemical reactions as students participate in some amazing demonstrations that are sure to kep them on the edge of their seats. Color-changing chemicals, extreme temperatures and glowing concoctions are a few of the many chemical reactions we will explore.

Watt's Current

An electrifying demonstration awaits you! Observe the power of electricity and learn about electrical circuits as a Science Center staff member operates a Tesla coil and an electrostatic generator. It is sure to make your hair stand on end! Students are invited to participate during this energy-filled presentation of electricity.

Search for Life in the Universe

Watch a multimedia presentation that focuses on the search for life in the universe. This unique program discusses current research and NASA missions designed to discover even rudimentary life on other astronomical bodies. Call Dr. Neil Campbell for more information at 714-536-3258 or send him an e-mail
