After School

Discovery Science Foundation works with independent schools or school districts to organize after school programming that suit a school’s or district’s needs. Whether it be once a week instruction or daily interaction with students, the Foundation’s after school programs will enhance your school’s current offerings. We also collaborate with you to deliver the daily or weekly science component within an already existing program such as GATE, Think Together, YMCA, or Boys and Girls Club.

Our Next Generation Science Standard aligned curriculum can be adapted to target multi-age groups of students from kindergarten through eighth grades. Many lessons incorporate teacher-prompted project ideas and problems for students to solve in a self-directed way. Our approach to learning stimulates the creative and artistic side of students while also integrating language learning skills.

Environmental Programs

Treat your class to a visiting educator at your school site to present NGSS-based environmental issues so vital to our life in Southern California – Water Science/Conservation and Trash Management/Recycling. These sponsored programs are free to your school and consist of highly engaging in-class workshops, interactive assemblies for larger groups, and field trips to one of our science centers. A field trip stipend may be included to reduce the transportation cost of bus rentals when you visit Discovery Cube Orange County, Los Angeles, or Ocean Quest. These programs are energetic, fun, and engaging and bring to life the environmental responsibilities of all Southern California residents.
