Discovery Science Center is proud to host our third annual Egg Drop Competition to conclude our Engineer’s Week celebration!

Kids and adults* of all ages are invited to design and build an Egg Transport Vehicle (ETV), which is a device that will house and protect an egg from breaking as it falls to the ground from various heights.

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 devices!


*General Admission is required

Competition Details

Competitors are encouraged to create their entry ahead of time and bring with you to compete. Entries will be judged and winners will be selected based on the lightest weight, the fewest number of parts, and the most accurate landing on the Drop Zone target.

  • Eggs will be provided… please do not bring eggs.
  • Be sure to read the rules & regulations ahead of time. Click Here >
  • Some building supplies will be available at the competition, but we highly recommend using your own creativity and making your device at home.
  • Prizes will include an Annual Family Membership.
  • Prizes will be awarded after the final drop, but participants DO NOT need to be present to win (we can mail them to you).
