Discovery Science Center celebrates National Engineers Week with many hands-on science activities and programs for the whole family to enjoy.
Throughout the entire week we will feature interactive exhibits and learning stations including block tower building and Catenary Arch building. Plus, we will explore the engineering behind gears and how they work in our everyday lives.
Special Programs & Activities*:
Sunday, February 19 | Robots, Droids and You
Join us for special presentations by the OC Sherriff’s Department, Raytheon’s “MathMovesU” program and meet a local R2D2 Club and learn how to build a droid. Plus, build a jitterbug robot in a hands-on activity and find out all about our upcoming Rocket Launch event in the spring!
Monday, February 20
Learn how to design and test a hoop glider in this engaging hands-on activity! Plus, we will have learning stations and activities throughout the Center to help kick-off Engineers Week.
Saturday, February 25 | You be the Engineer!
Join us as we host special guests from Boeing and Cal State Fullerton’s Engineering Department. Also, meet Evan Bozanic, youngest person to ever dive Antarctica and Jeanne Sleeper a pioneer of womens’ scuba diving and author of Women Underwater. Jeanne and Evan will share some exciting experiences related to the science of diving.
Egg Drop Competition – Build Your Entry at Home!
Discovery Science Center is proud to host our first-ever Egg Drop Competition. Kids and adults of all ages are invited to design and build a device that will house and protect an egg from breaking as it falls to the ground from various heights.
