Science Specialist - Making the Grade

Teach science to our guests through 3 minute table-top science demonstrations that are based on the California Science Content Standards. Learn how to teach a demonstration, set up your table, present your demonstration, and clean up at the end of your shift! In those four simple steps you can make a difference in a child’s life and teach them science at the same time!

Docent

Help guests enjoy their experience at Discovery Science Center by explaining the science behind our permanent and temporary exhibits!Become familiar with our exhibits and help answer guests’ questions about the science they are learning at the Center.

Interactive Game Advisor - Dino Quest

Help explain Dino Quest, the world’s first interactive dinosaur adventure game, to our guests. Learn to play the game and help teach the science of dinosaurs to children of all ages!

Pre-School Play Area Coordinator

Help monitor our KidStation, Discovery Science Center’s area designated for children 5 years and younger, by interacting with the kids and teaching some basic math and science skills!

Storyteller

Practice your public speaking skills by reading stories to children! Additional creativity such as acting out the story or teaching a science lesson relating to the story is always a great bonus!

Science Education Specialist

If you are working toward your teaching credentials, this is a great opportunity! Spend 25 hours volunteering with Discovery Science Center by:

• Teaching one or two of our Making the Grade table-top demonstrations
• Learning our permanent exhibits
• Watching the guests interact with the exhibits
• Developing a 3 minute lesson plan around one of our permanent exhibits
• Piloting this lesson plan to the guests
• Teaching the lesson plan to a fellow volunteer

This position will be working closely with our Education Department.
