First Grade Lesson Plan: Plant Eaters vs Meat Eaters
1st Grade Science Content Standards: Life Sciences
2. Plants and animals meet their needs in different ways.
A. Students know different plants and animals inhabit different kinds of environments and have external features that help them thrive in different kinds of places.
D. Students know how to infer what animals eat from the shapes of their teeth (e.g., sharp teeth: eats meat; flat teeth: eats plants).
This activity-based lesson plan allows students to experiment with different animal “teeth”. Students will be given different tools to represent animal teeth to teach them the shapes, structures and functions of different teeth and how that relates to what animals eat.
