Taco Bell Discovery Science Center sets new one-day attendance record
More than 4000 visitors pack The Cube in Orange County to see BubbleFest, The Science of Hockey and The Magic School Bus
SANTA ANA, Calif. – April 16, 2009 – Taco Bell Discovery Science Center had 4,275 visitors on Friday, April 10, 2009. This is a new record for one day attendance.
“We think that people visit because we offer an amazing lineup of special events and traveling exhibitions at a price families can afford,” Joe Adams, president of Discovery Science Center, said. “To make visiting even more affordable, we’ve just launched an Easy Pay Plan for our family membership program. Along with receiving free admission for a year, member families get invited to free special members-only events on and off site – giving them a chance to explore other spots in Orange County and across the U.S.” Upcoming opportunities include an Earth Day event in Bommer Canyon and a Rocket Launch competition at The Boeing Company’s Huntington Beach site on Saturday, May 2.
The one day attendance record was set during BubbleFest, an annual Spring Break favorite for Southern California families and visitors. The bubble extravaganza is highlighted as International bubble artist Fan Yang performs four Mega Bubble Shows daily under a big top in the science center’s parking lot. BubbleFest closes Sunday, April 19.
Also at Taco Bell Discovery Science Center is the newest permanent exhibition, and the largest of its kind in the United States: The Science of Hockey, presented by the Anaheim Ducks, the NHL and USA Hockey. Uniquely-timed with the NHL playoffs, The Science of Hockey opened at the beginning of April and has been packed with children and families since.
The Magic School Bus Kicks Up a Storm, a traveling exhibition, is also at Taco Bell Discovery Science Center through May 3, 2009. This colorful weather exhibition allows young people to dress up and report on the weather, create their own virtual storms and make take-home clouds and thunder.
