The Zoo and You • Ages: 5-6
Is your child an animal lover? Do you have a future zoologist in the family? Discovery Science Center’s “The Zoo and You” camp at the Santa Ana Zoo provides curious kids the chance to learn hands-on with animal experts! Each day of the camp will be themed around a popular children’s book, including “Click, Clack, Moo, Cows That Type,” “‘Slowly, Slowly, Slowly,’ Said the Sloth,” and “Are You a Bee?”
Each book will connect to a hands-on activity such as making butter, investigating eggs, and learning about body coverings, such as fur, feathers, scales, and quills. Campers will also get up close and personal with an armadillo, pancake tortoise, and macaw during the camp animal shows. Plus, they will get to tour the Zoo, play monkey bingo, and make an edible bird nest. All activities are held in the safety of the Santa Ana Zoo’s barnyard classroom and outdoor amphitheater.
