Winter Camp

Say good-bye to the winter blues! Discovery Cube is offering two new four-day, in-person winter camps to help keep children engaged and entertained over the winter break. Each camp is 9:00 am -2:00 pm, and will be filled with fun science interactions that will encourage creativity, boost their confidence, and keep them occupied with high quality, hands-on activities.

Discovery Cube Orange County

STEM on Ice

Grades: K – 2

Dates: December 29 – January 2 (No camp on January 1)

Time: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Pricing:

  • Members: $60 per day, $200 for all 4 days
  • Non-Members: $70 per day, $240 for full 4 days

Description: This winter, Discovery Cube invites young learners to explore science, engineering, and the wonders of the season in our interactive camp, STEM on Ice. Through hands-on activities and guided experiments, children will engage their curiosity, strengthen problem-solving skills, and experience STEM in a fun, age-appropriate way.

Daily Themes:

  • Monday – Snowy Senses: Children investigate the science of winter using their five senses through safe, engaging experiments.
  • Tuesday – Robots on Ice: Campers learn to use and program simple robots, discovering how technology can be used to model nature in winter.
  • Wednesday– Winter Animals: Kids explore the fascinating adaptations of Arctic animals through activities that connect biology with the winter environment.
  • Friday – Snow Lab: Young scientists experiment with making and testing snow-like substances while learning about states of matter.

Winter Tech Olympics

Grades: 3 – 5

Dates: December 29 – January 2 (No camp on January 1)

Time: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Prices:

  • Members: $60 per day, $200 for all 4 days
  • Non-Members: $70 per day, $240 for all 4 days

Description: This winter, young innovators are invited to take part in a high-energy week of coding, robotics, and friendly competition at Winter Tech Olympics! Campers will put their problem-solving and creativity to the test as they design, program, and play through a variety of STEM-inspired challenges.

Daily Themes:

  • Monday – Sphero Mini Golf: Using iPads and Sphero robots, campers set up and navigate their own mini golf courses, learning coding fundamentals through play.
  • Tuesday – Scratch Archery: With Scratch coding and Dash robots, kids design digital archery challenges, then bring them to life by moving hockey pucks across real-world targets.
  • Wednesday – Dash & Scratch Soccer: Campers code Scratch “Beat the Goalie” games and use Dash robots to dribble and score on the field.
  • Friday – Indi Car Races: From Scratch foot races to Indi car races, campers explore programming in action as they create and compete in their own tech-fueled events.

Please prepare your child for their day at camp by packing them a water bottle, a healthy lunch, and 1-2 snacks packed separately from their lunch.

Unfortunately, we don’t allow campers to purchase their own lunch at Discovery Cube for safety reasons.

Answer:

Please make sure your child is wearing clothing that can (and is likely to) get dirty, comfortable close-toed shoes, and a jacket (some of the camp rooms can get cold).

Once you have registered for camp, check your email for information/updates from Discovery Cube. These emails will contain extra information specific to the camp you have registered for and a LINK TO CAMPDOC to provide additional safety information for your child. This information must be provided by the Friday prior to the start of your child’s first day of camp.

The grade level ranges set for each camp are chosen specifically on the content for each camp. We highly recommend only signing up your child for a camp that is within their corresponding grade level.

At least 2-3 counselors will be with the campers at all times. We also have 2-3 additional volunteers that will be assisting the counselors throughout the day.

While campers may participate in small group projects throughout the camp week, all campers are kept together throughout the day.

Children enrolled in Camp Discovery get at least 1 hour of dedicated floor exploration time in the Discovery Cube each day of camp.

If you cancel within 2 weeks of your child’s first day of camp, you will be charged a 20% cancellation fee.

Discovery Cube has a zero-tolerance approach to bullying. We ask parents to go over with their camper(s) and sign the Discovery Cube Camper Behavior Contract during the camp registration process to prevent these incidents from occurring. Our staff are also trained in handling conflict between campers and methods in preventing bullying. Please read the Discovery Cube Camper Behavior Contract for more information.
