Discovery Cube Los Angeles and the non-profit Create Now are collaborating to bring you the annual Power of the Arts Festival! Our diverse programming and activities aim to inspire, educate, and empower individuals of all ages to explore the intersection of art and science. Guests will be able engage in interactive exhibits, live performances, hands-on activities, and more!

About Create Now:

Create Now was founded in 1996 by Jill Gurr and was initially named Write Now! In 1998, the name was changed to Create Now to include all forms of creativity, such as music, dance, culinary arts, and fashion. Discovery Cube Los Angeles is honored to Partner with Create Now and its CEO, Brandon Dean Johnson, to bring great arts programming to the Science Center.

Doodle Studio

Kids can sketch, color, and freely explore their ideas on paper—building creative confidence, visual storytelling skills, and imagination.

Shape & Squish

Young artists sculpt playful forms using foam clay, strengthening fine motor skills and spatial thinking through hands-on 3D design.

Hidden Color Magic

Scratch art sheets reveal vibrant colors beneath as kids create bold designs, encouraging focus, surprise-based creativity, and expressive mark-making.

Paint What You Feel

Through open-ended painting, kids express their emotions and ideas visually—nurturing self-awareness, intuition, and artistic freedom.

Fusion Lab

Brick by Brick

Kids build mini sculptures with LEGO-style blocks, applying engineering concepts, symmetry, and creative problem-solving in a hands-on way.

Bounce Factory

By mixing simple ingredients to make bouncy balls, kids explore chemistry, cause-and-effect, and the fun of kinetic experimentation.

Swirl & Splatter

Using spinning art machines, kids create energetic paint designs that teach motion, color blending, and the physics of rotation.

Folded Wonders

Through the art of origami, kids fold intricate shapes from paper—developing focus, sequencing skills, and appreciation for geometry and culture.

Maker Magic

Bead Buddies

Kids design animal keychains with colorful beads and string, building pattern recognition, dexterity, and creative confidence.

Stitch a Critter

Using pre-cut felt and plastic needles, kids sew their own plushies—practicing patience, coordination, and the joy of bringing a creation to life.

Puppet Pals

Kids craft imaginative puppets from simple materials, blending design, character-building, and storytelling through play.

Nature Remix

By decorating natural items like rocks and shells, kids learn to transform found objects into art—celebrating creativity, texture, and the beauty of nature.
